Welcome to Mindcraft I created this site with the purpose of it being a center for Minecraft enthusiasts to gather and learn how to use Minecraft for more than just a game. I started out creating math lessons using Minecraft for my brother. I'm detailing my entire adventure about what I'm doing with Minecraft in education. I truly believe in the power of Minecraft to expand minds. I've seen some of the most amazing things during my time as a Minecraft player. Players in Minecraft aren't just players playing some random video game. They're creating alliances, learning strategy, becoming economists, architects building grand structures, and even engineers making computers out of redstone, all the while making friends.
At the foundation of my adventure, are two projects; the Minecraft Elective and the Minecraft League. The Minecraft Elective is my project with Chris Miko. The Electrical Engineering and Minecraft Elective involves teaching students about electricity though real life and reinforcing these concepts using redstone in Minecraft. You can find information about the Minecraft Elective in one of my blogs: Electrical Engineering and Minecraft. The Minecraft League is a partnership between Pepperdine University and Da Vinci Innovation Academy as well as two other schools, Campbell and Brentwood. In the league, we compete using challenges created by Pepperdine. Our first challenge was an underwater mineshaft rescue challenge. To win these challenges, our students need more than just a a pickaxe and some blocks. They need team-building, communication, and collaboration. You can learn about the Minecraft League on my Minecraft Blog. |
Travis GradyI'm a homeschooled 10th grader who loves to play and teach Minecraft. Currently, I work on the Minecraft League and Elective. In the Minecraft Elective, I function as a student-teacher. I usually learn something new in every class. In the Minecraft League, I'm a team captain. I run our meetings, create mini-challenge, and help manage our student website, the DVIA Minecraft League Hub.
Craft AcademyCraft Academy is the blog site that Miko runs. Miko is the teacher that runs the Minecraft Elective with me. His blog focuses on a teacher's perspective of the project. Please check his blog out, as it provides a good amount of information on how we're running the technical part of the Minecraft League and Elective.
